Unbreakable Touchscreens are Coming!

Unbreakable Sapphire Screens on Smartphones

If you’ve never had a problem with a broken touchscreen on a smartphone, you’ve almost certainly gone to great lengths in order to achieve this feat. We’ve all experienced (or witnessed a friend experience) that time-slowing slip of the hand as the phone falls to its demise on a hard surface. Broken screens are a leading cause of phone replacement, and according to a recent study, even 23% of current iPhone users daily are dealing with a shattered screen. So what can be done about it?

Apple FINALLY introduces a 128GB iPad

iPad 4 128GB

However, the heavens have now opened up as Apple announced yesterday that they would begin to sell a new 128GB version of their full-size 4th Generation iPad. Hit the jump for more details.

How to Survive Black Friday 2012

How To Survive Black FridayWe here in the electronics world understand your vices, America. We all have a constant urge to buy the latest and greatest right NOW, and if we can’t quite afford it, then we’ll wait till they sell at a ridiculously low price. It’s common knowledge that the lowest prices appear mere hours after we’ve stuffed our faces with more food than 15 Sudanese children will eat in a lifetime. This price reduction is  a vicious and dangerous phenomenon we refer to as “Black Friday,” set to occur just a couple days from now. If you’re somewhat wary of the crowds, but still want some fantastic deals, here are some tips on surviving the post-turkey day madness.

There’s also a New iPad (4th Gen)

iPad 4th Gen with Retina Display

I’m sure by now you’ve probably heard all the buzz about the new iPad Mini, which went on pre-sale friday. What we haven’t mentioned yet is that Apple actually announced two new iPads this past tuesday; the second being an update of their flagship “new iPad.” Since Apple dropped the numbers from their nomenclature, we’ll refer to it as the “4th Gen iPad” or the “iPad with Retina Display” (this is the marketing they’re using in ads, fashioned after the successful new “Macbook Pro with Retina Display”).

Apple announces the iPad Mini

Apple's brand new iPad Mini

The day has come; after a few months of rumors, speculation, and part leaks, Apple has finally affirmed the existence of an iPad Mini.

This long-anticipated addition to Apple’s product line comes in a pretty and sleek package, yet the specifications and price of the device seem to fall short of the competition. For example, prices for the iPad mini start at $330 for 16GB of storage. This means a large price hike from the comparable and considerably cheaper Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD (both start at only $200). Check out the iPad Mini specs after the jump!

CONTEST – Win the New iPhone!

Isn’t it hard to remember a time before the iPhone, despite it only being five years old? Now here we are in a world full of multitouch screens, a lack of physical buttons, and cell phone cameras that can easily replace your point-and-shoot Kodak entirely. Now that we have them, we can’t live without ‘em!

When the iPhone 4 was introduced, we discovered an elegant new glass and aluminum design that breathed new life into the phone. Now that Apple is gearing up for a big announcement on Sept. 12th, history tells us that we’re about to see a brand new iPhone very soon!

While there are rumors around every corner of the Internet, the official specs of the device will remain a mystery until Apple’s announcement. Many of the rumors concur that we’ll see a larger screen, thinner body, and an aluminum back, however, none of the rumors seem to agree on a name for the device.

There are clues, however. For example, when we were all expecting the latest iPad to be the “iPad 3″ or “iPad HD,” Apple threw a curve ball and simply named it “iPad” and marketed it to us as “the New iPad.” This begs the question: will Apple continue shifting their nomenclature and phase out the numbers that were introduced in the iPhone 4? Or will we actually see the “iPhone 5″ soon?

CONTEST!

We’re quite curious as to what Apple will name this new addition to their gadget family! We’re so excited that we’re offering a contest to “Predict the New iPhone’s Name!” We will buy the new iPhone for one lucky winner who correctly predicts the name of the upcoming device!
